Director Pitch/ Treatment For Music Video.
Title of Track: "little did she know"
Genre: Singer-songwriter
Target Audience: variety of ages (mainly teenagers) chilled theme, acoustic fans.
Outline of Ideas: What will happen?
Our video will be a hybrid video so there will be a variety of different shots of a young male that is shown singing to establish the performance part of the music video. He is singing about a girl called "Taylor" (Which is the original name of the song done by jack Johnson) The narrative part of the video is then shows a love story, at first he seems to appear far away from her, however he becomes closer and closer and appears in the same shot as her. The story unravels and it becomes clear this girl isn't happy, it is left to the audience to make up their own minds about the ending of the story. however it does suggest that our artist and also protagonist is no longer interested in our girl "taylor". The aim of the song is to get the audience connected and feel the emotion he is expressing through the video.
Locations
There was much discussion between our group of where we would film this footage and we looked at a range of places we could use. we used our knowledge of the local area to decide perfect locations to film.
We have decided on a combination of indoors and outdoors would be best, as the "natural" setting is produced in all the other music video's of the same genre. This gives us more variety of shots and scenery and doesn’t mean our whole video will be based in the same location. we chose to use "The Shief" pub, as we had access to it and we originally liked the idea of "Taylor" being stood up in a restaurant, so it seemed perfect. This combined with the local area of "West Haddon" was perfect for the location we desired.
What Resources are needed?
For the filming itself, we just need a camera, tripod, actors and a setting for the video. We used various sources to gain permission to film in a local pub "The Sheif".
Justifications of Ideas in Relation to Genre and Artist
Through our research, we managed to discover that many music videos in this genre base their videos mainly on the artist, who also seems to be the actor in the video. We as a group also liked the idea of a Hybrid video as the majority of music videos in this genre are in this format. Using these two factors we have hopefully made a video that is a believable folk music video while also to an extent challenging them ideas and making the best music video we possibly could.
